Three Hegemons refers to a theory of international relations and historical capitalism developed by Giovanni Arrighi (who has no responsibility for the contents of this site). The three hegemons are the Dutch (who led the interstate system in 1648), the British (1815-1914) and the Americans (1945--). A key aspect of the theory is that American hegemony is presently being eroded, and will likely be displaced by a new hegemon centered in East Asia. This of course contrasts with most of what you read in the mainstream press as well as on the academic left. I wrote my dissertation on the three hegemons. That's my connection.
